Senior Systems Administrator
Senior System Administrator.
Salary from; £31.000 per annum.

To administer and maintain the operational environment of the AWE corporate business systems, specialising in W2K3, MS Clustering and MS Exchange 2003 Server environments.
We operate a high availability solution delivered from multiple data centres providing core business systems to over 6000 users.
This is delivered using MS clustering technologies on HP hardware, over a resilient SAN and IP Network.
We are also consolidating many of our legacy systems to a clustered VM Ware solution. We are managing these systems in an enterprise environment applying ITIL standards.
Provision of technical support for IT Operations, supporting operating system software and applications on IT Operations networked servers.
Providing support and operational management of the core business systems and related services in liaison with staff within AWE and other external agencies.
Responsibilities;
To provide technical expertise across a variety of IT systems and to be able to:-
Install, setup, configure, harden, maintain and troubleshoot:-
Windows 2K3 Standard and Enterprise edition.
Active Directory.
Clustered Exchange 2003 Server.
Clustered File Servers.
VM Ware ESX.
To provide technical support to Applications.
Altiris.
Email Extender.
Disk Extender.
Legato Networker.
To ensure the understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
Qualifications;
HND/C in relevant subject or the equivalent qualification or experience.
Extensive experience in a similar 3rd line IT support environment.
The post holder may be expected to undertake training in one or more of the computing environments listed under the knowledge section above.
Training in and the maintenance of knowledge for software and applications will be required.
Knowledge;
In depth knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Server including Active Directory and XP Professional
Core understanding of networking/firewalls (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IIS).
Demonstrates awareness of methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards (including legislation and regulations) associated with own area of specialisation.
Has acquired an appreciation of the wider field of Information Communications and Technology.
Holds the technical knowledge relevant to the work of team and applies it appropriately.
Experience;
Relevant experience in a technical or system management role including experience with secure internet systems and administration thereof.
In depth experience of Windows 2000/2003 Server including Active Directory, Windows 2K3 Standard and Enterprise edition, Clustered Exchange 2003 Server, Clustered File Servers, VM Ware ESX.
Skills;
Configuration and tuning, installation, upgrades and maintenance of operating systems and utilities.
Interpretation of system statistics.
Good interpersonal skills – communication at all levels.
